
Tom is an award-winning marketing and communications professional with a passion for solving complex challenges and telling meaningful stories. With more than 25 years of experience, he currently serves as the Director of Communications and Marketing at United Way.
Tom’s career came full circle when he returned to United Way—where he got his start in marketing—after spending over 17 years in healthcare marketing at SwedishAmerican (now part of UW Health), and nearly three years as Marketing and Communications Manager at Prairie State Legal Services, a nonprofit providing civil legal aid across northern and central Illinois.
He holds a BS in Marketing and an MBA with a marketing focus from Rockford University, along with an AOS in Music and Video Business from the Institute of Art in Colorado. He also completed a Digital Marketing Certificate from Cornell University in 2022.
Outside of work, Tom is a proud husband and dad to two boys. You’ll often find him with a guitar in hand, making music when he’s not making an impact.
